In many towns and cities the aim to stop fascists speaking at town halls or marching through cities was a key motivating force. In Bolton the Asian Youth Organisation was the leading body in defending seven anti-fascists who were arrested during a demonstration to protest against a National Front (NF) meeting in Bolton town hall.
