Public meetings were organised alongside socials to encourage a sense of friendship and solidarity amongst people within the movement.

The Walait and Akhtar Defence Campaign was organised by AYM, Manchester. ‘We always invited Ajnabi’ Nilofer recalls, ‘it was a local group and people liked the Punjabi music’.
